Start the New Year with a Splash at the Polar Bear 5K & Plunge!
Join us on January 10, 2026, at Pickrell Park in Schertz, TX for a frosty, fun-filled morning the whole family will love! Whether you're racing, walking, plunging—or cheering someone on—this is your chance to challenge yourself, support your community, and kick off the year with excitement!
At the Y, we believe in healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. Your participation supports scholarships and community programs at the Schertz Family YMCA, helping ensure everyone has access to life-changing Y resources.
5K RACE – Take on a scenic timed run or walk through Pickrell Park. All fitness levels are welcome—every step supports a great cause!
NEW ? CUB RUN (Ages 5–9) – Kids can dash through their own mini course and receive a Polar Bear plushy for finishing!
POLAR BEAR PLUNGE – After the race, the boldest among us will take a dip in the icy waters—then warm up with hot cocoa, fire pits, and games!

All 5k participants will receive a commemorative moisture-wicking event t-shirt and a participation medal. If you are participating in the Polar Bear Plunge, you will also receive a commemorative Polar Bear Plunge cotton T-Shirt!
To guarantee your shirt and medal, be sure to register by December 14, 2025. This event will take place rain or shine—so come prepared for whatever weather Texas has in store!
